Cyanotype process is where you mix Potassium Ferricyanide with Ferric Ammonium Citrate and coat preferably watercolour paper and when dry contact a suitable negative and expose to sunlight, developed in plain water and hung to dry. More info here for the technical minded: http://www.alternativephotography.com/process_cyanotype.html.
Gum prints require a solution of Gum Arabic mixed with Potassium Dichromate plus a coloured pigment and coated on to watercolour paper, contact printed with a suitable negative and again developed with plain water. More info here: http://www.alternativephotography.com/process_gumbichromate.html.
It is possible to merge the two techniques and start with cyanotype then coat the paper with gum bichromate and use it with various colours.

I then use this as a form of
under painting and continue to paint with standard watercolours over the top of the Gum layers, this gives a computability and produces a warm that is inherent with this technique.
